AAP Delhi chief Saurabh Bharadwaj accused BJP of weakening institutions after the Supreme Court’s reported “crook” remark on the ED. He warned that without strict action, court observations will remain meaningless.
New Delhi: AAP’s Delhi State President, Saurabh Bharadwaj, has made strong remarks on social media after the Supreme Court reportedly called the Enforcement Directorate (ED) a “crook.”
He said this was not just an unusual statement from the country’s top court but a serious sign of how much India’s institutions have been weakened under the BJP-led government.

He wrote,
“The country’s highest court, the Supreme Court, called the ED a crook – this is no small matter. But unfortunately, people sitting in constitutional positions are bowing before power and working solely on the agenda of one political party and its government. The Supreme Court issues orders, but no concrete action is taken against officials; unless concrete action is taken, it will yield no benefit.”
Bharadwaj warned that people in important constitutional posts are no longer working as protectors of the Constitution. Instead, he alleged, they have turned into supporters of the ruling party, giving up their independence and honesty.
He said,
“Even when the Supreme Court gives strong observations, the bureaucracy ignores it with impunity. Unless there is real accountability, these statements will remain hollow.”
He claimed this showed that the checks and balances in Indian democracy were breaking down.
According to him,
“These individuals no longer care about such judicial observations, because they are working on the agenda of a political party and its government. Even when orders come from the Supreme Court, no concrete steps are being taken to bring about institutional reform.”
Bharadwaj also spoke about the case of former Delhi Minister Satyendar Jain. He pointed out,
“In Satyendar Jain’s matter, the court did say that the ED should not have tweeted in such a manner, but since no officer was held accountable, what was the point of the court’s observation? If the Supreme Court issues such an order, it must be followed by concrete action against the officers involved – only then will it have any real effect. Otherwise, such judgments serve no purpose.”
With these comments, the AAP leader has raised serious concerns over what he describes as a growing culture of ignoring court orders and judicial criticism.
He argued that unless strict action is taken against those who break the law or misuse power, even the strongest words from the Supreme Court will not make any difference.
