Rahul Gandhi Faces Legal Heat In Varanasi Over “Lord Ram Is Fictional” Remark
A Varanasi court receives a complaint against Rahul Gandhi for calling Lord Ram “mythological and fictional” during a US speech. The case, filed by a local advocate, alleges hurt religious sentiments and demands an FIR.
Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh: Today, on May 12, A legal complaint has been filed in a Varanasi court against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for allegedly calling Lord Ram a “mythological and fictional figure” during a speech at Brown University in Boston, United States.
The complaint, filed on Monday, claims that his remarks were offensive and hurt the religious feelings of followers of Sanatan Dharma.

Advocate Harishankar Pandey, who filed the complaint, said that Rahul Gandhi made these controversial statements during his speech at the US university on April 21.
He called Gandhi’s words a form of “hate speech” and said it had deeply hurt the sentiments of Sanatanis.
The complaint also mentions the All India Congress Committee (AICC) as a party in the case, holding it responsible for Gandhi’s actions as part of the political group.
Advocate Pandey argued that the statement given by Rahul Gandhi should be treated seriously under the law and requested that the police register an FIR against him under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
“Lord Ram is a mythological and fictional figure”
– this is the quote that is said to have been used by Rahul Gandhi during his address, and it has now become the core point of contention in the legal complaint.

According to Pandey, this statement has not only created outrage among the public but also qualifies as an attempt to disturb religious harmony.
He submitted in court that “this is a hate speech” and insisted that the matter is serious because it involves sentiments of millions of believers.
The court in Varanasi has accepted the complaint and has fixed the next hearing date for May 19.
On that day, the court is expected to hear arguments and decide whether an FIR should be registered based on the complaint.
This development has stirred political discussions, especially because of the involvement of a high-profile leader like Rahul Gandhi and the religious sensitivity around Lord Ram.
