Prayagraj: I’m not sure what to do. The Allahabad High Court has granted bail to a man accused of sharing a controversial ; Facebook video linked to the Indo-Pak tensions and “Operation Sindoor.” The video allegedly contained edited visuals showing Prime Minister Narendra Modi apologising to Pakistan.

Justice Krishan Pahal, while granting bail to Shahrukh Khan, said it was on the condition that

“he shall not tamper with the evidence during the trial and appear before the trial court on the date fixed.”

According to the FIR registered at Sasani police station in Hathras district, the main accused, Ashraf Khan, was the one who edited and uploaded the videos related to the India-Pakistan conflict. In these videos, Modi was allegedly shown alongside a donkey cart carrying an aircraft and apologising to Pakistan.

The FIR also claimed that the videos portrayed Wing Commander Vyomika Singh being humiliated in front of the Pakistani army chief. It further alleged that Defence Minister Rajnath Singh was shown “placing lemons on a Rafale jet,” after which the jet was depicted as being destroyed by Pakistan.

Another video allegedly showed Pakistan Air Force jets shooting down Indian aircraft. As per the FIR, these videos were

“stated to be seditious, inciting war against the government and aimed at endangering India’s sovereignty, unity and integrity.”

During the bail hearing, Shahrukh Khan’s lawyer argued that he was not named in the FIR and that the main allegations were against Ashraf Khan, who had allegedly posted the objectionable content.

The counsel claimed that Shahrukh was only accused of sharing the video and had no involvement in creating or posting it. It was further argued that

“his account had been misused by somebody else.”

Shahrukh had been arrested on May 16.

The state counsel, however, opposed his bail plea.

In its order dated August 4, the court said,

“Considering the facts and circumstances of the case, submissions made by counsel for the parties and without expressing any opinion on the merit of the case, it is a fit case to release the applicant on bail.”
