Raja Raghuvanshi’s family to approach Meghalaya High Court for narco tests on wife Sonam and her alleged lover Raj Kushwaha. The motive behind the honeymoon murder remains unclear.

Indore: Today, on June 23, the tragic murder of Indore businessman Raja Raghuvanshi, who was killed during his honeymoon in Meghalaya last month, continues to raise serious questions.
His family has now announced plans to approach the Meghalaya High Court seeking narco-analysis tests on the two main accused — his wife Sonam and her alleged lover Raj Kushwaha — in a bid to uncover the real motive behind the murder.
The case has shocked both Madhya Pradesh and Meghalaya due to its chilling circumstances.
Raja Raghuvanshi had recently gotten married and was on his honeymoon in the scenic north-eastern state when the murder took place.
Meghalaya Police have so far arrested seven people, including Sonam and Kushwaha, in connection with this sensational crime.
Speaking to the media in Indore, Raja Raghuvanshi’s elder brother Vipin Raghuvanshi expressed the family’s distress and their strong desire for justice.
He said,
“The motive behind my brother’s murder is still unclear. Narco tests on Sonam and Kushwaha can provide clues about it. Therefore, we will soon file a petition in the Meghalaya High Court for conducting narco tests on both accused.”
The family believes that these tests may help the investigation by revealing hidden truths from the accused, which might not come out during regular interrogation.
Narco-analysis, also known as a “truth serum” test, is used by investigators in India in rare cases to dig deeper into the psychological state of accused individuals.
However, it requires judicial permission as the test involves giving the subject drugs that put them in a semi-conscious state, where they are more likely to speak without filtering their thoughts.
The investigation is currently being handled by the Meghalaya Police, who are working to determine whether this was a pre-planned conspiracy involving multiple people.
With five others already arrested apart from Sonam and Raj Kushwaha, the case has taken several complicated turns, but the exact reason for the killing remains unclear.
According to Vipin, the family is fully prepared to take legal steps to get the truth.
“The motive behind my brother’s murder is still unclear,”
he repeated, stressing that without the narco tests, the investigation might miss critical pieces of information.
The family’s upcoming petition in the Meghalaya High Court will request that both Sonam and Kushwaha undergo narco-analysis under proper legal procedures, hoping that it will help authorities establish the motive and connect the dots of what exactly happened during the couple’s trip that ended in Raja’s untimely and violent death.
Background Of The Case
According to investigators, Raja Raghuvanshi and Sonam had tied the knot just weeks before their trip to Meghalaya. What initially appeared to be a honeymoon soon turned into a police case when Raja was found dead under suspicious circumstances.
Subsequent investigations revealed alleged links between Sonam and Raj Kushwaha, suggesting a possible extramarital affair.
Police suspect the murder was not spontaneous but part of a larger conspiracy. The couple had reportedly travelled through several tourist locations before the incident occurred, and inconsistencies in Sonam’s statements further raised suspicion.
This led to the arrest of Sonam, Kushwaha, and five others, but the exact motive remains unconfirmed, prompting the family’s push for narco-analysis to uncover deeper truths.
