The Vadodara rural police has begun a probe into the case of alleged suicide of a 58-year-old farmer, who consumed poison in his home in Kayavarohan in Dabhoi taluka on Monday, allegedly after being held in digital arrest for a day by cyber fraudsters.

The sufferer, recognized as Atul Patel, allegedly consumed poison on Monday after receiving calls from cyber fraudsters, who threatened the sufferer with a false investigation right into a Rs 40 crore transaction in his checking account in a case of narcotics.

Vadodara District Superintendent of Police Sushil Agrawal on Thursday stated that the police had not come throughout any financial institution transactions constructed from the sufferer’s account and the case was below investigation. Agrawal stated, “The victim was working as a guard in a granary. He consumed poison on Monday and had succumbed at a hospital. We have initiated a probe after a case of accidental death was lodged at Dabhoi police station on Tuesday…He had received about six calls from suspicious numbers. We are looking into all aspects ..”
