In the Singayya death case, former Andhra Pradesh CM YS Jagan Reddy moved the High Court to quash the FIR. YSRCP leaders YV Subba Reddy, Perni Nani, and Vidadala Rajini also filed similar petitions.
YSRCP leader and former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has submitted a quash petition to the Andhra Pradesh High Court regarding the case linked to the death of Singayya.
Additionally, YSRCP Rajya Sabha MP Y.V. Subba Reddy, along with former ministers Perni Nani and Vidadala Rajini, has filed their own separate quash petitions.
The High Court is set to hear the matter on June 26 (Thursday).
Y.S. Jagan, his driver Ramana Reddy, Rajya Sabha MP Y.V. Subba Reddy, and former ministers Perni Nani and Vidadala Rajini were implicated in the circumstances surrounding Singayya’s death during Jagan’s visit to Rentapalla village in Palnadu district.
When news of Singayya’s death initially broke, Guntur SP Satish Kumar indicated that an unauthorized vehicle had struck the 53-year-old man.
The vehicle, a Tata Safari with the registration AP 26 CE 0001, was confiscated. However, the SP later amended his statement, announcing that a case had been filed against the YSRCP president based on new evidence.
A video reportedly showing Singayya being struck by Y.S. Jagan’s car while he greeted a large crowd subsequently emerged. Following this, the police designated Y.S. Jagan as Accused No. 2 (A2) in the case.
The former Chief Minister criticized the TDP government for its inadequate security measures during such a prominent visit.
The petition was filed in response to a case registered by the Andhra Pradesh police, where Jagan Mohan Reddy has been named as one of the accused. The matter relates to the alleged custodial death of Singayya, which has generated significant attention and legal scrutiny.
