Meghalaya Police Gets 3-Day Transit Remand Of Indore Flat Owner

Gwalior: Today, on June 24, In a major development in the ongoing investigation into the murder of Raja Raghuvanshi, the Meghalaya Police has taken Lokendra Singh Tomar into their custody on a three-day transit remand.
Tomar is the owner of the Indore flat where Sonam Raghuvanshi had taken shelter after allegedly fleeing Meghalaya following her husband’s murder.
According to police officials, Lokendra Singh Tomar was picked up from a flat in the Gandhi Nagar area of Gwalior on Monday.
His detention was initiated after the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime), Indore, contacted the Superintendent of Police (SP), Gwalior, seeking assistance in the matter.
Following his detention, Tomar was kept overnight at the Mohana police station in Gwalior. On Tuesday morning, he was handed over to the Meghalaya Police team for further investigation.
Confirming the details, Rashid Khan, in-charge of the Mohana police station, said, “He was handed over to a team of Meghalaya Police on Tuesday morning.”
Later, Tomar was produced before the district court, which approved his transit remand for 72 hours to facilitate his transfer and interrogation by Meghalaya Police.
Providing further details, Rashid Khan added,
“He was produced in the district court which sent him to the transit remand of Meghalaya Police for 72 hours.”
This case relates to the murder of Raja Raghuvanshi in Meghalaya, which led to Sonam Raghuvanshi leaving the state and moving into a flat in Indore owned by Tomar.
The Meghalaya Police is actively probing the circumstances surrounding her escape and the possible role of Tomar in harbouring her.
The transit remand will allow Meghalaya Police to take Tomar to their state for further questioning regarding his involvement, if any, in the case.
The developments come at a crucial time as the investigation seeks to uncover the full chain of events leading up to and following the alleged murder.
Police officials are expected to conduct detailed interrogations to determine whether Tomar had any prior knowledge of the crime or if he assisted Sonam knowingly.
Background Of The Case
The Raja Raghuvanshi murder case has unfolded into a multi-state investigation involving suspected criminal conspiracy and sheltering of the accused.
Raja Raghuvanshi, a resident of Meghalaya, was reportedly murdered under mysterious circumstances.
His wife, Sonam Raghuvanshi, is the prime suspect in the case and is believed to have played a role either in the murder or its aftermath.
After the incident, Sonam fled from Meghalaya and went into hiding in Indore, Madhya Pradesh.
She was found staying in a flat owned by Lokendra Singh Tomar. Following this, Tomar was traced and detained from the Gandhi Nagar area in Gwalior on the request of the Indore Police.
He was later handed over to the Meghalaya Police for further investigation into his possible involvement in harboring the accused.
