IMPORTANT: Understand the Purpose of this Complaint

• This tool helps draft a complaint for a non-cognizable offense (a less serious issue). This creates an official record in the police station's General Diary (GD) and may lead to a preliminary inquiry.
• Use this for: Loss of important documents, noise complaints, minor quarrels, documenting a non-urgent threat for future reference.
• DO NOT use this for serious crimes (theft, assault, cheating, offenses against women, etc.). For these, the police are legally required to file an FIR under Section 154 of the CrPC. Insist on an FIR for any cognizable offense.
