Prof. (Dr.) Ashok R. Patil, Indian Achievers Award 2025, NUSRL, Law Schools

Prof. (Dr.) Ashok R. Patil, Vice-Chancellor of the National University of Study and Research in Law (NUSRL), Ranchi, has been conferred the prestigious ‘Indian Achievers Award 2025’ for his professional achievements and contributions to nation-building. The award is presented by the Indian Achievers Forum, which recognizes exceptional individuals across diverse fields.
With over 27 years of work, Dr. Patil has been a trailblazer in the fields of consumer law, legal education, and policy development. He established the Online Consumer Mediation Centre (OCMC) and the International Journal on Consumer Law and Practice. Under his leadership, NUSRL collaborated with the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Government of India, to set up the Consumer Chair, providing a boost to research and policy formulation.
Under his Leadership NUSRL has seen an improvement in its National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) standing. He has strengthened clinical legal education, connecting students with real-world legal experience and deepening their understanding of social justice. Several new centers and committees, including the IPR Chair and Consumer Chair, have been established under his guidance.
The university has formed academic partnerships with leading institutions in Italy, Switzerland, and Nepal, and has enhanced collaboration with domestic institutions such as IIM Ranchi, GNLU, BIT Mesra, and the Ministry of Consumer Affairs. These initiatives have positioned NUSRL as one of India’s leading law universities.

Receiving the award, Dr. Patil said, “This honour is not mine alone but reflects the collective efforts of our entire team. At NUSRL, we are committed to justice, research, and social transformation. Law is not merely a profession—it is a powerful tool for societal change.”
