Hisar court extends the judicial custody of YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra, arrested under the Official Secrets Act, till July 7. Accused of spying, she was arrested on May 16 from Hisar’s New Aggarsain Extension.
Hisar: Today on June 23, a local court in Hisar on Monday extended the judicial custody of social media influencer Jyoti Malhotra by another 14 days.
Malhotra was arrested last month on serious allegations of espionage under the Official Secrets Act and relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Jyoti Malhotra, who is originally from Hisar, runs a popular YouTube channel called ‘Travel with JO’. She was taken into custody by the Hisar Police on May 16 from the New Aggarsain Extension area.
Authorities suspect her of being involved in spying activities, though the exact nature of the allegations has not been made public yet.
Following her arrest, she was produced before a local court, which initially remanded her to judicial custody.

On Monday, the court decided to extend her custody for another 14 days, setting the next date of hearing for July 7.
Her lawyer, Advocate Kumar Mukesh, confirmed the development, stating,
“Her judicial remand has been further extended by 14 days and the next date of hearing has been fixed by the court on July 7.”
This case has attracted significant attention due to the serious nature of the charges under the Official Secrets Act, a stringent law meant to protect the integrity of state secrets and national security.
The involvement of a social media influencer has further amplified public interest.
Background of the Case
Jyoti Malhotra, a YouTuber from Hisar known for her channel ‘Travel with JO’, was arrested by the Hisar Police on May 16, 2025, under the Official Secrets Act and sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
According to officials, she was detained from the New Aggarsain Extension area of Hisar on suspicion of involvement in espionage activities.
While the exact details of the alleged spying are yet to be made public, sources suggest that Malhotra was allegedly in possession of sensitive information, possibly related to defence or strategic locations, and may have had links to external agents.
Investigating officers have reportedly seized electronic devices and documents for forensic analysis.
Her arrest came after weeks of digital surveillance and intelligence inputs. The case has since gained significant public and media attention due to the intersection of national security concerns and her social media popularity.
Her videos mostly featured travel content, which is now under scrutiny to check if any sensitive material was intentionally recorded or shared.
The court had initially sent her to judicial custody soon after her arrest, which has now been extended twice as the investigation progresses.
Her legal team denies the charges and asserts her innocence, claiming she is being falsely implicated. The matter remains under investigation, with the next hearing scheduled for July 7, 2025.
